The
balls are running away from me |
If your juggling balls are taking
every opportunity they get to run away from you (known among
jugglers as "The Widdicombe Effect"), there is a solution!
In order to combat this, you need to make an exaggerated response:
try to throw the balls over your shoulders instead of just straight
up and down. This will bring them back under your control.
Some find it helps to imagine yourself inside a 'phone box.
Like superman perhaps... |

It's
all moving too quickly! |
| Need to slow down? The most effective
method for speed control is to change the height to which you
throw the balls. The lower they go, the faster they move. Lift
your eye-line a little, this should slow things down. Don't
over do it though, because if you do... |
|
The
balls are totally out of control |
There are many possible reasons
why the balls are all over the place. If you've ruled out the
above two problems, there is another common cause.
If you are throwing the balls too high you lose most of the
control. Although throwing higher buys you more time between
catches, it can be a false economy. Try dropping your line of
sight, so that your head is pointing straight ahead or lower. |

I'm
going crackers! |
A big part of learning any new skill
is the "I'll never get this bl**dy thing !#*?!" stage.
I've been there, you may be there, even Jack Bremlov* has been
there. Sit down, have a cup of tea or a Jack Daniel's and come
back later. Once your head is refreshed, you'll come back and
surprise yourself.
Don't let this become a chore - it's meant to be a bit of fun.
If you really can't crack it, mail me for help.
*Jack Bremlov is a Czechoslovakian juggler, and the first
person in the world to juggle seven juggling clubs. Only a
handful of people have learnt this skill since.
I'm not among them!
